Pop Curlcha was started in

2020 first releasing What's

Poppin: Dem Curls A nourishing

hair butter. A blend of aloe

vera, fenugreek, and rosemary

slowly infused into oils before

being added to shea butter and whipped to perfection. 

 

The Journey to Pop Curlcha. 

 

Aside from dying my hair once and straightening it on a handful (maybe two) occasions, I have always rocked an afro. 

 

My journey really began after a difficult time in my life. I needed to be set free. I needed to be liberated. So scissors in hand I went from armpit length to mini fro. 

 

 

I began researching ways to grow healthy hair. And with the natural hair community becoming more well established I discovered a 'wealth' of information. From hair porosity, hair type, natural ayurvedic ingredients that support hair growth and health. 

 

After about two years of mainly wash and goes set with gel. I ran out. No gel. Wet hair. In a rush to drop baby girl at nursery and get to uni, I turned to the place that has everything. Mum's wardrobe. And there she had it. Shea butter, mixed with rosemary ( Literally the whole leave and stock, come like thyme inna the rice and peas pot), olive oil, and coconut oil.

This mixture had my hair feeling super soft with my curls super defined in a way that it had never been before.

From then I was hooked. However, it wasn't that simple I tried to remake my mum's shea butter mix and was faced with Shea butter that was not unrefined which was not giving my hair the same effect. So I started to apply my research findings and formulated what has now become What's Poppin: Dem curls. Adding in additional nourishing ingredients, sourcing raw, unrefined, organic ingredients. This mixture was an improvement from my mums. My hair was retaining more moisture than before and in addition, I did not have to wash my hair in order to get dried gel out. I could wash and go on Monday, then put it in a bun on Tuesday.

After a few months of use, not only family and friends were commenting on my hair but complete strangers. With more and more people requesting the product I was using, I started to dispute to friends and family as a trial. To which I received positive reviews with them noticing a difference in their hair's health, softness, and reduction in breakage. Seeing how happy my little mixture made my family and friends made me want to spread the joy and help others with an organic, nourishing hair butter..... PopCurlcha was born!!!

 

The Future of Pop Curlcha.

 

Pop Curlcha is currently working behind the scenes to extend its line of hair products. In 2021, look forward to more hair care tips, hair oils, condition, and hair quenching tea.
